Payment for procedure(s) may be made by cash, major credit card, or personal check, and patient financing is available through CareCredit.  Payment of minimally invasive procedures, such as wrinkle relaxers or fillers is made at the time of service by cash or credit card.  We are unable to accept personal checks for these treatments.   If a payment for a procedure(s) is done with a credit card, and a credit is returned for any reason, the credit will reflect a fee of 5% of the initial amount charged, due to the usage fees incurred by the Nelson Center to process the initial transaction.

The Nelson Center is not responsible for refunding any surgical fees or rescheduling fees that result from a patient’s error or noncompliance.  Noncompliance includes, but is not limited to, failure to follow pre-surgical and post-surgical instructions regarding nicotine, alcohol, drug use, specific medication cessation or administration, and incisional care.  If a surgical procedure is rescheduled by the patient with less than 14 days notice, a rescheduling fee will be incurred, and this does not include fees that may be charged by the surgical facility.  All fees must be paid before confirming a new surgical date.

Our office requires a non-refundable $1000 scheduling fee for the date and time of your surgery.  Surgery fees must be paid at least 14 days prior to your surgery date.  If a procedure is canceled or rescheduled within 11-14 days of the date of surgery, a $1000 fine is assessed.  If a procedure is canceled or rescheduled within 8-10 days of the date of surgery, a fee of 50% of the surgery fee is assessed.   If a procedure is canceled or rescheduled within 7 days of surgery, 100% of the surgery fee is forfeited.  These penalties do no apply to illness-related cancellations where a doctor’s note is provided.

Some procedures may or may not be covered by medical insurance, and there may be situations in which part of your surgery would be considered functional, or medically necessary. In these cases, your insurance may pay a part of the surgery fee.  As a courtesy, our office will pursue prior authorization for this portion of the procedure.  You will still be responsible for the surgeon’s fee, deductible, and/or co-payment, as well as the deductible and co-payment for the operating room and anesthesia.  The payments for the cosmetic portion of the procedure will be due prior to the operation.

Purely cosmetic procedures will not be billed to any commercial or government insurer.

We encourage you to contact our office staff with any questions that you may have, so that this policy may be clarified for you prior to scheduling any procedure(s).

At times, a revision or “touch-up” of a procedure(s) may be desired.  Should the situation warrant, patients are responsible for any fees, including, but not limited to, operating room and anesthesia fees.

If a secondary procedure(s) is needed, and it is within a year of the original operation, an adjustment for the surgeon’s fees will be provided, but is at the full discretion of the Nelson Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Procedures that are requested by the patient that are either due to the natural effects of age or gravity, or the consequence of a prior surgery, will entail the full cost of the surgeon’s fees, in addition to any charges incurred using an operating room or anesthesia.
